BWP are an established charity, in our 25th year, that ensures that women and children affected by domestic abuse are empowered to be safe and in control of their own lives. We do this through a small, dedicated staff team, and a wide-ranging group of passionate volunteers at all levels in the organisation. Locally born actress, Samantha Beckinsale, is our inaugural Patron and we have many exciting collaborations and partnerships set-up, including with Nottinghamshire FA.

Be part of something special

We’re excited to announce that BWP are opening a charity shop, and it’s not just any charity shop, it’s a thing of beauty. We will also be run creative workshops. We are looking for stylish, enthusiastic, and creative volunteers to help run our space. From online sales to donation collection, we have a role for everyone. Join us to help find our items their forever home, make friends, and help support our cause in a beautiful, friendly environment

We’re looking for enthusiastic and positive volunteers with a love for fashion, community, and creativity. Join our team and help run our new beautiful charity shop to support families affected by domestic abuse. Each role offers a unique chance to learn new skills, make a difference, be part of a passionate team and help contribute to generating critical funds for our delivery services.

Volunteer Trustees

Are you looking to make a big difference to the lives of others?

Our 25^th year is an exciting time to join our Board as we implement our new and ambitious strategy. We are keen to onboard more enthusiastic Trustees to expand the Board’s capacity to support the delivery of our vision and impact into a new era.  

We want our team to be as diverse as possible to be representative of the women and families we serve in the towns throughout Broxtowe. We’re particularly interested in people with expertise in the areas of HR/employment law, income generation, family and social services. We are currently seeking a Treasurer, but opportunities for other key roles on the Board may become available as other trustees step-down from their roles over time.

Whether you are an experienced trustee, or are wanting to take your first step at supporting a charity in this way by using your professional experience, we’d love to hear from you. As a trustee you will contribute to positively changing the lives of those affected by domestic abuse through robust strategic governance and development of the charity. In return, we offer reimbursable expenses, opportunities to develop new skills and to network within the sector.

The expected time commitment is approximately 2-3 days a month, ideally over a minimum of three-years.

The Board currently meets once every two months, alternating between an online Teams meeting and an in-person meeting at a location in Beeston, Nottingham.
