Message from our Founder, Andrea Lucy-Hirst
‘Women’s stories were the instigator of setting up BWP in 2001.  Women’s stories, year upon year, still tell us how important BWP is.  Without the support of BWP, women’s journeys would never start. To be listened to, be given the right information, systems  in place to feel safer, all are key to the start of a woman’s journey. BWP provide so much more and are there every step of the way. The multi-layered approach with survivor’s groups, Helpline, awareness raising, creative writing,  volunteering, support for children and the myriad small acts of kindness, all contribute to BWP’s success in giving women choices and courage to make profound and lasting changes.  Well done everyone for being such a brilliant organisation’.

 

BWP “In Conversation with” founder Andrea Lucy-Hirst

BWP’s CEO Colette Byrne & founder member of the project, Andrea Lucy-Hirst. The two women discuss what the landscape was for domestic abuse support 25 years ago and how things have evolved to the present day. Focusing on not only how people’s attitudes and legislation in this area has changed, but all that BWP has achieved both past and present in such a changing environment.
