Our Trustees

Alongside our dedicated staff team, Broxtowe Women’s Project has a Board of Trustees made up of individuals from a variety of backgrounds.

Debra Gibson – Chair
Debra has worked in public service since 2017. She has a Law degree and a post grad in Human Rights and Criminal Justice.  Debra is a survivor of domestic abuse and is committed to BWPs mission to ensure those affected by Domestic Abuse are empowered to be safe and in control of their own lives.

David – Treasurer

David spent a career in senior leadership in retail, healthcare and technology businesses. He is now a qualified coach helping people with their life, careers, leadership and mental wellbeing. He also coaches with groups and teams. As well as volunteering with BWP, David supports asylum seekers and refugees, and leads a fortnightly mental health group in his local town. David is a White Ribbon Ambassador – he believes that men need to make a stand against domestic abuse, and educate men and boys to treat girls and women with respect, equality and care. David is married with three children and four little grandchildren, and is enjoys running, writing and exploring the world.

Pearl Smith
Pearl comes from a background of fundraising in the charity sector and currently specialises in philanthropic giving. Pearl is motivated by her own lived experiences to fight for women’s rights and against abuse. She is proud to be a board member of BWP and dedicated to help the charity deliver its objectives.

Fiona Porter FCIPD ICF ACC

Fiona has a 30-year career in developing and supporting others, including leadership training & development, coaching and mentoring, as well as delivering coaching and support workshops for women. Her work with women and her interest in women’s equality and women’s rights against abuse led her to BWP and to become a Trustee on the Board to support the charity in its valuable work.

Diane Wallace
With over two decades of professional experience in the field of domestic abuse, I have developed a steadfast commitment to providing comprehensive support to survivors enabling them to rebuild their lives in a safe and secure environment. My career has encompassed a significant breadth of roles, ranging from direct support provision in refuge settings to leading service improvements through close collaboration with stakeholders. My professional endeavours are particularly informed by a passion for supporting minority groups, who often confront additional barriers in accessing domestic abuse services. I have dedicated considerable effort to ensuring that these groups benefit from culturally sensitive, equitable, and empowering support tailored to their specific needs. As the Refuge Service Coordinator of a domestic abuse service in the East Midlands, I have successfully directed programs designed to enhance the support available to women. My responsibilities included collaborating with stakeholders to ensure service delivery was effective, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of survivors. I am a certified Domestic Abuse Prevention Advocate (DAPA), accredited by Women’s Aid. This qualification underscores my expertise in areas such as risk assessment, safety planning, and advocacy on behalf of survivors. I hold a master’s degree in Understanding Domestic and Sexual Violence from the University of Worcester, which has provided me with advanced theoretical and practical insights into the complexities of domestic abuse. My vision is to continue dismantling barriers faced by survivors of domestic abuse, particularly those from marginalised communities, by championing inclusive service models and fostering collaborative approaches.
