About Us

Broxtowe Women’s Project (BWP) support and empower survivors of domestic abuse and raise awareness to prevent, reduce and end abuse. We have opened our first charity shop – Pretties in the ‘Wood, and we couldn’t be more excited. We have a mission to make a positive, meaningful and sustainable impact on the community. All proceeds will support our work to help women and children affected by domestic abuse to be safe and empowered towards personal and economic independence.

The Role

We’re looking for a dynamic, passionate Shop Manager who will bring their style, creativity and enthusiasm to this new and rewarding role. As our Shop Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day operations of the shop, ensuring it’s always welcoming, organised, and filled with beautiful, curated items that our customers will love. You’ll be responsible for managing a team of volunteers, overseeing onsite and online sales, and maintaining high standards of customer service, visual merchandising, and community engagement that will generate income to support our core delivery services. We will be using the upstairs for creative sessions, so the Shop Manager will schedule sessions and will need to connect with local artists to run sessions

Key Responsibilities

· Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of volunteers to create an inspiring, welcoming shop environment that maximises sales and promotes positivity.

· Visual Merchandising: Keep the shop looking beautiful and inviting by creating eye-catching displays that showcase our handmade and preloved donations.

· Customer Service: Ensure every customer has a positive experience that keeps them coming back and telling their friends.

· Online Sales: Oversee online platforms, managing the listing and sale of select items, or managing the volunteers who will do this.

· Stock Management: Sort and select donations, ensuring quality control and preparing items for sale.

· Community Engagement: Act as an ambassador for our charity, building awareness and encouraging local support whilst building relationships with the local community. Sourcing local artists to run craft sessions.

· Administration: Manage volunteer rotas and daily income, provide reports, cash handling and banking and maintaining stock records.

· Sustainable: Ensure that we are environmentally friendly as possible. We use paper bags and provide rewards for customers who return them to be reused.

Requirements

· Previous retail management experience, ideally (but not essentially) within a charity environment.

· Able to reach and exceed sales targets.

· Have a creative approach to campaigns with stylish visual merchandising

· Attention to detail

· Strong people skills, with the ability to inspire and lead a team of volunteers and create a friendly and professional environment that will entice more customers.

· Comfortable with online selling platforms and basic digital sales tools.

· A passion for our charitable work and community engagement.

· Financial awareness related to a retail environment (e.g. scams/fraud etc)

· Knowledge of Health and Safety and Safeguarding.

Desirable

· Fundraising and Campaign Experience.

· Ideally First Aid trained or willing to undertake training.

· DBS check is required for this role.
