Nottingham walk inspires publication of poetry and art

Women supported by Broxtowe Women’s Project were proud to see their work featured in a publication launched as part of Nottingham Poetry Festival on Saturday (7 May).

The women were invited to be part of a poetry walk where they were inspired to capture what they saw as they walked around Nottingham city centre earlier this year. What they write, drew and photographed has formed a printed Zine, made in collaboration with Dizzy Ink, which was launched at the Stiltoe Rooms in Waterstones.

Lead writers on the project, Leanne Moden, Caroline Stancer, Sonia Burns, Sophie Sparham joined the women and other groups involved at the launch on 7 May.

Chris Harris, Partnerships Manager for BWP which supports women, children and young people in Broxtowe who have experienced Domestic Abuse, said: “It is wonderful to see the women’s incredible work feature in this publication as part of something as prestigious as the Nottingham Poetry Festival.  We love to take any opportunity for women to develop their talents and express themselves, and rightly, everyone is very proud of seeing their work in print.”
