Memory cafe sparks creativity

BWP volunteers were delighted to be part of Eastwood Memory Cafe’s  event at the D.H. Lawrence Museum on 9 November 2022. The charity helps those affected by dementia and their carers to live well.

BWP volunteers worked with the group of older people to create ‘This hand has… ‘ poems and artwork.

The group added happy memories and things they’d achieved throughout their lives to images of their hands. The finished ‘This hand has…’ pieces will go into the Eastwood Memory Cafe exhibition in Eastwood Library from Friday 18 November.

They then joined all of the organisations and the Mayor of Eastwood, Councillor Ken Woodhead, to plant roses in the garden of the D.H. Lawrence Museum to celebrate collaborative working that leads to such events.

BWP were delighted to be invited to take part in Eastwood Memory Cafe’s event, along with Durban House, Breathe Easy, Eastwood Primary Care Centre, Julie’s Cafe and Eastwood People’s Initiative.
