LGBT+ and domestic abuse
Galop has provided advice, support, research and lobbying around the issues of LGBT+ policing for over 30 years. They support all LGBT+ people who’ve experienced hate crime, domestic abuse or sexual violence.
LGBT+ experiences of domestic abuse are often rendered invisible by limited ideas of what constitutes abuse or who survivors are. To coincide with the 16 Days of Action Against Gender-Based Violence, Galop’s National LGBT+ Domestic Abuse Project is launching a national social media campaign using #LGBTBeyondRecognition.
Galop want to remind LGBT+ survivors, community, and professionals that recognizing LGBT+ experiences of abuse is the first step to creating change.
